A wonderful vintage Roger Tory Peterson bird print from the Birds of Our Land series, originally produced in 1954 for John Morrell & Co.
This Redheaded Woodpecker print features Peterson’s beautifully detailed illustration of two Redheaded Woodpeckers (Melanerpes erythrocephalus) perched on a weathered tree trunk in a winter landscape. Roger Tory Peterson (1908–1996) was one of America’s most influential ornithologists, naturalists, and bird artists. His revolutionary field guides changed the way generations of people identified and appreciated birds.
