Vintage Royal Palm Hotel Miami Porcelain Dessert Plate 1996 Centennial Ball

Vintage Royal Palm Hotel Miami Porcelain Dessert Plate 1996 Centennial Ball

$22.00Price

A charming piece of Miami history! This vintage 5.5” porcelain dessert or bread-and-butter plate features a green palm tree at the center, surrounded by a pretty pink and gold decorative border.

The back is stamped “Miami Centennial Ball February 24, 1996” and “Baptist Health Systems of South Florida,” with a Victoria Porcelain maker’s mark.

The plate was created in connection with Miami’s Centennial celebrations, commemorating the city’s 100th anniversary. Its palm-tree design pays homage to Miami’s historic Royal Palm Hotel.

A little Miami history:

The original Royal Palm Hotel was built by railroad magnate Henry Flagler and opened in January 1897, just months after the incorporation of the City of Miami. Located along the Miami River at Biscayne Bay, the grand 450-room hotel helped establish Miami as a winter resort destination and became a center of the city’s early social life. Its lush grounds were filled with tropical plantings and palms, making the palm motif particularly fitting. The hotel eventually closed after the 1927–28 season and was demolished a few years later.

A lovely small collectible for a Miami history enthusiast, Royal Palm Hotel collector, Florida memorabilia collector, or anyone who enjoys pieces with a story.
